when i was a boy...

i remember learning that when the native americans roamed the eastern shores they would collect shells as wampum (money) and use the pretty ones to trade for things they needed as if the shells were money.
i remember thinking that i would love that job, walking up-n-down the beaches searching out the prettiest shells.
i still think that today.

Retreat, retreat

It's funny how the word retreat means to abandon and maybe refuel???
That's what we are doing this weekend....going to a retreat....it is in no way, shape or form a RETREAT as much as it is a total refueling....can't wait to get there....already packed now let me go and finish my work day to get going....later

winter??

Is it really winter? 2005 finished up as the warmest winter since we humans started keeping records. Here is what Nasa (yes, the space people) had to say....In descending order, the years with the highest global average annual temperatures were 2005, 1998, 2002, 2003 and 2004, NASA said in a statement.

Yeah, I think global warming IS taking place but I am not going to blog 'bout SUV's and central air (of which I have neither). I just miss my winter. :(
I love large quantities of ice, freezing rain, snow, wind car doors that are frozen shut, steps that are iced over and so on an so forth.
Why, you may ask?
Quite simple really...I like things that make people stop and change their normal routine....ice on your front steps certainly does that. I talk to more of my neighbors when we are all digging out of a snowstorm then any other day of the year.....

I miss my winter....

when life goes too fast

Sometimes it seems that things happen way too fast. It's not that things happen super fast as much as we don't slow down. Time moves the same, all the time it is us that moves faster and slower. Look at things as if you may never see them again....if this was the last time you were going to see the sky you would certainly take a "good look".

enjoy the day it's a tuesday!
:)

ok so i read the high cheese's post and went to do a visual only post on my site as a "tribute" of sorts but I have failed.....i cannot get the pic that i want to load after about two dozen attempts.

oh well!

the lost month of january

this past month has truly been a lost month for me....sure i got a lot accomplished....and i do mean a lot. the bottom line is..........I AM BACK!

i have been down and out----sick----confused, bef uddled not to mention seriously preoccuppied, but if one thing made January a lost month for me it was being sick, i don't recommend it.

Today----Monday, January 23rd is a brand spanking new week and ladies and gents.....the tater is back! I would like to thank my wife, the beautiful one, for sticking by me thru January 2006. I could not have done it w/o her, also my children they have given me support when I was down and out and lastly I would like to thank God.....sure we both know I seriously questioned you (God that is) during some MAJOR upheavels and i certainly called upon you and wondered aloud to the purposes of my illness(s) as I begged forgiveness of my sins, but thru it all, you again have stuck by me and still love me and for this I thank you.

the NFL and me

I have a hard time dedicating a total of 7-8 hours of my life to the NFL today. The problem is I would really like too. I think I am going to see if the 1st game looks like it is going to be good and catch the second half in it's entirety. I really wish the Seattle/Carolina game was on first so I could get all my stuff done around the house done and then watch the game. This is why I love the 8:00 Sunday games and Monday Nite games....they start later when I can relax and watch them and not during the day when I can get other things done.
And yes, I am jaded since my team has NEVER won a Superbowl and was in the Superbowl last year but did not even make the playoffs this year....heck they did not even field a team this year and I cannot believe I made a sports post....what's the world coming too????!

The Things We Think and Do Not Say

I like this movie and I finally realized why.....she Renee ( i don't remember the characters name) believes in him ( Jerry). Mainly because of his memo/mission statement...titled:
The things we think and do not say

I like the almost at the end of the movie scene when Jerry hugs Rod (Cuba) after Rod had been hurt during the Monday Nite game and another player with one of Jerry's competing agents glances over and says; " why don't we have a relationship like that?" and the competing agent automatically starts to hug his client/player.
I like it because of what they are showing between Jerry and Rod. True caring, true emotion, true friendship.

Life is to short too not say what you mean and be true.

right now the trees are naked.
they are fully exposed
the wind whips at them
the light penetrates their very being
yet they stand strong
I can shake their branches but I cannot uproot the tree

college football

so folks....i am sick as a dog! Not sure what that phrase means or where it comes from, but i am living it. Got to watch the whole mine tragedy and lots of CNN and another meaningless television like the lifestory of Jessica and Ashlee.

But the BIG story today is....I watched college football last nite. WOW! I only watched the last qtr so don't get too excited....IMPRESSIVE. I really thought USC was going to win. That was a great game and I love a good head to head game.
Vince Young literally walked touchdowns in....he saw opportunity and grabbed it. I had never seen him or Bush play before so it was truly a treat. That touchdown by Bush (airborne) was classic.....Big E for effort.
Vince Young wanted the game and MADE it happen, plain and simple.....he was in a position to make it happen and he did.

I think I have slept on average of 15 hours a day this week. Can't wait till I'm better.
Remember....everyday is a winding road.
